I am committed to supporting LGBTQIA+ students because, quite simply, I was one. Even 45 years ago, Rutgers was a place where I felt like I was welcomed, at least compared to my high school experience. Acceptance has gotten so much better over the years but we must continue to work for total acceptance in all environments.

I am committed to supporting LGBTQIA+ students because all students should feel safe, comfortable, & supported at their university. We are all equal.

I am committed to supporting LGBTQIA+ students because I value the contributions and unique perspectives they bring to our school, and because as an anti-discrimination practitioner (and now academic), I believe wholly and completely in LGBTQIA+ equality and inclusion.

We are one big family. And the only way this family works is if all of us feel free to be ourselves and love whomever we love.
